Nieuwkoop sustained a hamstring injury against Excelsior on Saturday and won't be available versus Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. Manager Arne Slot told reporters, "Bart will undergo an MRI scan one of these days, which will show exactly how long he will be out."
ANALYSIS
Nieuwkoop picked up an injury in the previous UCL match but was able to return versus Excelsior. Unfortunately, the right-back made it just 52 minutes before sustaining his hamstring injury. At this point, Nieuwkoop should be considered a doubt, at best, for the Group Stage finale versus Celtic on Dec. 13. Gernot Trauner will likely return to the backline with Nieuwkoop sidelined.
