2023 Fantasy Outlook
Patrick suffered a season-ending injury during training camp for a second straight year, with his ACL tear in 2022 followed by an Achilles tear this summer. He'll try to return in 2024 and compete for a role, but with only one year remaining on his contract his future in Denver is uncertain. Read Past Outlooks

Accepts pay cut
Patrick (Achilles) and the Broncos have an agreement to alter his contract for 2024, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The first two seasons of Patrick's three-year, $30 million contract were wiped out by severe injuries during training camp -- an ACL tear in 2022 and then a torn Achilles' tendon in 2023. He's now 30 years old and entering the final year of the extension, so he presumably would've been released if he hadn't agreed to lower his $9.5 million base salary for 2024. While never a high-volume pass catcher, Patrick had 742 yards and six TDs on 79 targets in 2020 (64.6 percent catch rate, 14.5 YPC, 9.4 YPT), followed by 734 yards and five TDs on 85 targets in 2021 (62.4 percent, 13.8 YPC, 8.6 YPT).

Salary restructure ahead?
Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com believes that the Broncos should look to renegotiate Patrick's contract for salary cap relief during the offseason.
ANALYSIS
Patrick has missed the last two seasons due to significant injuries. He tore his right ACL during training camp in 2022, and after spending that season rehabbing, he tore his Achilles ahead of the 2023 campaign. Legwold notes that Patrick carries a $15.57 million salary cap charge, though the wide receiver has no guaranteed money left on the three-year, $29.25 million contract he signed in November of 2021. Given Patrick's injury history and salary cap hit, the Broncos could elect to try and restructure his contract or move on from the four-year wideout out of Utah.

Patrick went undrafted out of Utah in 2017, eventually catching on as a reserve with Denver and
working his way up to a starting job the last two seasons. There was some thought last
offseason that he'd be replaced by 2020 second-round pick KJ Hamler, who joined 2018
second-rounder and 2020 first-rounder Jerry Jeudy in the WR room. Patrick kept his starting job
nonetheless, leaving Hamler as the No. 4 receiver before a brief promotion (on account of
Jeudy's ankle injury) and then a Week 3 ACL tear. At the end of the year, it was Patrick rather
than Sutton or Jeudy who led the team with five receiving TDs, meanwhile finishing just 42
yards shy of Sutton's mark for receiving yards. The Broncos took notice, giving Patrick a three-
year, $30 million extension in November, but he'll have to wait until 2023 to make good on the new contract after suffering an ACL tear in August 2022. The timing should at least give Patrick an opportunity to get back to full strength before training camp next year.
