2024 Fantasy Outlook
Just as panic was setting in in Green Bay last season, Love proved he was the Packers’ next franchise quarterback. The first eight weeks after Love took over for Aaron Rodgers were disconcerting, to say the least, for Packers fans. He had an 11/8 TD/INT and 78.2 passer rating and the team was 2-5. But things started to change Week 9, and in the last 10 games Love threw 21 TD passes to just three interceptions and improved his rating by 30 points as the Packers went 7-3 and made the playoffs. In that span, he ranked fourth in the NFL in completion percentage (68.7), sixth in on-target percentage (75.9), sixth in TD percentage (6.1) and eighth in YPA (7.7) while his TD:INT ratio led the league. On attempts of 20-plus yards, his 20 completions were second only to Dak Prescott’s 26 as he went deep on 11.0 percent of his attempts (11th). Love became the third QB in NFL history to post 4,000-plus passing yards, 30-plus TD passes and win a playoff game in his first season as starter. The Packers have a young receiving corps -- Green Bay was the youngest team to win a postseason game in NFL history -- full of promise, including four wideouts and two tight ends entering their second or third years, each capable of a breakout. The team replaced Aaron Jones with Josh Jacobs, who averaged 48 receptions the last three seasons, and Love adds a bit of rushing value (247 yards, four TDs), all of which gives him a chance to repeat as a top-5 fantasy QB. Running back room revamped
Love is set to enter the 2024 season with a new-look backfield led by Josh Jacobs, who is slated to sign a four-year contract worth up to $48 million with the Packers, while Aaron Jones is moving on to Minnesota on a one-year contract, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Green Bay replacing Jones with Jacobs isn't the only piece of notable backfield news, as AJ Dillon is currently a free agent and the team's only depth now consists of Emanuel Wilson and Ellis Merriweather. Jacobs is coming off a down season, with just 805 yards on 233 carries (six touchdowns), but he's only one year removed from having led the NFL with 1,653 yards rushing on 340 carries (12 scores). Perhaps most importantly, Jacobs does boast a true three-down skillset, making him an ideal fit for coach Matt LaFleur's scheme, and providing Love with a reliable bailout option and target in the short field. Jacobs has two seasons with 50-plus catches under his belt, and he's a perfect match for the play-action game in Green Bay.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Extension talks underway
Love and the Packers have engaged in initial discussions about a contract extension, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
"There's been some, obviously, preliminary discussions," general manager Brian Gutekunst said Monday. "But we want to do it the right way. And certainly the sooner the better, but at the same time, we want to make sure we do it the right way. So, it's started. But it's not something that's going to go quickly, I don't think." Because the Packers signed the quarterback to a one-year extension last May, the two sides can't agree to a new extension until 12 months have passed since the previous one, giving them a six-week window in which to hammer out a new deal. Love played the 2023 season on that $13.5 million contract, but he figures to get a significant raise after firmly establishing himself as Green Bay's new franchise quarterback last season.

It’s time for Love in Green Bay. With Aaron Rodgers jetting to New York, the 2020 first-round pick is finally a starter after three years as an understudy. If he's to make Packers fans not long for Rodgers, he’ll have to do it with a young WR corps after veterans Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb joined Rodgers in New York. What’s left is an unimpressive collection of rookies, second-year “vets” and practice squad players. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, both of whom had up-and-down rookie seasons last year, top the WR depth chart. The Packers drafted three wide receivers, highlighted by second-round pick Jayden Reed (5-11, 187, with 4.45 speed). They used another second-round pick on TE Luke Musgrave, who with 4.61 speed at 6-6, 253, has little competition for tight-end targets. At 6-4, 219, Love has a strong arm and is mobile, which could give him a stable rushing floor while the passing game rounds into form. The Packers hedged their bets with a one-year extension worth a guaranteed $13.5 million, rather than picking up Love’s fifth-year option for a guaranteed $20.3 million for 2024. And for this season at least, Love might be handing it to Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon behind a good offensive line more often than not.
