Reaches deal with Swallows

Cole signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Swallows on Tuesday, Yahoo Japan reports.
ANALYSIS
The soon-to-be 30-year-old will head overseas for the first time following a 10-plus-season stint in affiliated ball after MLB's Washington Nationals selected him in the fourth round of the 2010 first-year player draft. Cole reached the majors for the first time in 2015 and was deployed mostly as a starter in his first three years in the big leagues, but he made a full-time move to relief in 2018. He proved to be an effective reliever for Toronto over the past two seasons, but injuries limited him to just 31.1 innings between 2020 and 2021. The Swallows plan to give Cole a look as a member of their rotation during the upcoming season.
