Split decision loss in UFC debut
March 7, 2020
Emmers lost to Giga Chikadze via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 248 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was the rare split decision that could have legitimately gone either way. Emmers' best round was the third but that still wasn't enough to put him over the top. Statistically, one would argue Emmers deserved a better fate. He finished with a 57-40 edge in total strikes landed and scored the only two successful takedowns of the fight. Emmers had all sorts of success on the regional circuit before signing with the UFC last month. The 30-year-old will be back in action in short order.
