Aliakbari has signed on with the UFC promotion, combate (via Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca) reports.
ANALYSIS
Aliakbari's most recent fight came at Absolute Championship Akhmat in Russia on March 16 when he took down Shelton Graves via TKO on punches 4:42 into the first round. A Greco-Roman World Championship gold medalist, Aliakbari has amassed a 10-1-0 professional record, with seven of those coming via TKO on punches. At the same time, RJ Clifford of Fox Sports notes that Aliakbari has a checkered past that includes being permanently banned from wrestling and pulled from the Olympics due to doping violations, so it remains to be seen if he will be able to keep it clean on the UFC circuit.
