Struggles continue in Vegas
BantamweightUFC
March 16, 2024
Kianzad lost to Macy Chiasson via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:54 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
History repeats itself at the worst possible time for Kianzad. She was submitted by Chiasson via rear-naked choke when the two first fought back in November 2018, and the result was identical five-plus years later. Pannie has some solid striking, but there's a hole in her grappling game the size of the Atlantic Ocean, and that has really prevented her from taking that next step. Kianzad won four straight against low-level competition from November 2019 to July 2021, but has lost three of four since, and her time with the company could be coming to a close.

Chiasson up next
BantamweightUFC
January 23, 2024
Kianzad is scheduled to compete against Macy Chiasson in a bantamweight fight at the UFC's Vegas event on March 16, according to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca.
ANALYSIS
For her next fight, Kianzad has a chance to redeem herself from her first UFC loss. Both she and Chiasson fought in The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale, where the latter came out on top to win that season. But unlike then, they will fight at a weight class lower than featherweight and in a division Kianzad has slightly more experience in.
Can't defend takedown in loss
BantamweightUFC
July 22, 2023
Kianzad lost to Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Kianzad showed nothing in this fight and probably didn't even deserve to win Round 3, the frame which all three judges gave her. She gave up one takedown to Vieira in each round. Pannie was finally able to reverse position in the final stanza, resulting in a 70-17 edge in total strikes landed in the frame, but none of the shots were all that meaningful, and it was clear as day she needed a stoppage to pull the upset. Even with the defeat, Kianzad is 5-2 in her past seven bouts, but those wins have come against Jessica-Rose Clark, Bethe Correia, Sijara Eubanks, Alexis Davis and Lina Lansberg -- five fighters no longer on the UFC roster.
Set to fight in July

May 9, 2023
Kianzad will face Ketlen Vieira in a bantamweight bout at UFC London show on July 22, Guilherme Cruz of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kianzad has won five of her past six UFC fights, including wins over former title contenders Bethe Correia and Alexis Davis. She'll look to continue her ascend against Vieira, who's coming off a disappointing loss after defeating former titleholders Holly Holm and Miesha Tate.
Gets right back in win column
BantamweightUFC
April 16, 2022
Kianzad defeated Lina Lansberg via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kianzad got the victory she came for, and she deserved it, but she certainly didn't look the part of a -525 favorite. Pannie is at her best when she's firing off plenty of volume on the feet. She did that here in the final frame, and it ended up winning her the fight. With the two women tied at a round a piece, including Kianzad surviving a knockdown in Round 2, Pannie finished with a 51-22 edge in total strikes landed in Round 3. Kianzad is a technical boxer with good size (5-foot-7) for the division, but the lack of stopping power in her hands seems likely to come back to haunt her down the road. It's difficult to argue with the results -- Kianzad is 5-1 in her past six fights dating back to November 2019 -- but all five of those victories have come via decision, and there is still little reason to believe Kianzad can compete with the top 135-pound female fighters despite her hot streak. That said, this was a nice win on the heels of a unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington last September.
Taking on Lansberg in April
BantamweightUFC
January 26, 2022
KIanzad (eye) will take on Lina Lansberg in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event April 16, Frontkick Online reports.
ANALYSIS
Kianzad is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington back in September. She suffered an eye injury, but should be all good by April to fight. Lansberg has not been in the Octagon since January of 2020.
