Loses in lackluster effort
LightweightPFL
March 23, 2019
Pinedo lost to John Makdessi via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 148 in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Pinedo was known on the regional scene as a come-forward action fighter but this bout marked the second time in a row we've seen the Peruvian fighter give ground for what was essentially the entire contest. This style would make a bit more sense if Pinedo was a consistent counter puncher but since that isn't the case, his offense mostly consists of periodically blitzing forward with strikes. While he was able to catch Makdessi a time or two, he simply doesn't put together enough consistent offense to comfortably win rounds, meaning that he could be in trouble if he can't find the aggressive nature we saw on the regional scene. Pinedo falls to 16-5-1 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Picks up decision win in debut
LightweightPFL
November 17, 2018
Pinedo defeated Devin Powell via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night 140 on Saturday in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
ANALYSIS
Pinedo was giving ground for most of this fight but was able to score often with counters and blitzing attacks, while his opponent would occasionally land a body kick or knee strike in the clinch. A late replacement for this fight, Pinedo is a heavy puncher who can throw in combination but may have trouble against better strikers going forward if he allows himself to be so easily pressured. He improves to 16-4-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
To make UFC debut in Argentina
LightweightPFL
October 24, 2018
Pinedo will take on Devin Powell in a lightweight matchup at UFC Argentina on Nov. 17, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pinedo took his lumps early on in his career, but is 6-0 in his last six bouts dating back to 2016, with each win being earned by way of stoppage. The Peru native had been competing primarily in South America-based promotions, but will now look to cash in on the opportunity of a lifetime in the UFC against Powell, who is 1-2 with the company.
