Losing streak hits three
BantamweightUFC
December 18, 2021
Ewell lost to Charles Jourdain via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Ewell started fast and faded just as quickly. That said, he deserves some kind of additional compensation simply for seeing the final bell. Ewell spent the vast majority of the final ten minutes serving as a punching bag for Jourdain. He ate 102 total strikes over that span, landing just 33. Dozens of them would have knocked out any mere mortal, but Ewell continued to push forward in order to reach the scorecards. This defeat -- Ewell's third in a row -- seems quite likely to cost him his roster spot. He has just a single win dating back to February 2020 and is 4-5 during his time with the UFC.

Matched against Charles Jourdain
BantamweightUFC
October 19, 2021
Ewell will fight Charles Jourdain on Dec. 18, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters will be looking to rebound from a slump. Ewell has dropped two straight, most recently losing to Julio Arce by second-round TKO in July. Jourdain has just one win and one draw in his last four fights.
Gets outworked, finished in Vegas
BantamweightUFC
July 24, 2021
Ewell lost to Julio Arce via TKO (punches) at 3:45 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 27 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Ewell is known as an athletic fighter with heavy hands, but he was kept on the back foot for the majority of this fight, allowing Arce to pick him off when he would try to enter the pocket. Always a tough competitor, Ewell was protesting the finish after being declared out on his feet, but it looked as though he was saved from absorbing further damage. That makes two dominating losses in a row for Ewell, who had previously been on a two-fight winning streak. He falls to 17-8 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Ewell will take on Julio Arce in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event on July 24, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ewell is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Chris Gutierrez at UFC 258. Prior to that, Ewell had won fights over Irwin Rivera and Jonathan Martinez. This will be Arce's first time in bantamweight since 2016.
Battered by Chris Gutierrez
BantamweightUFC
February 13, 2021
Ewell lost to Chris Gutierrez via unanimous decision (26-30, 28-29, 27-29) at UFC 258 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The remarkable toughness of Ewell is the only reason this one saw the final bell. Ewell was competitive for about a round before Gutierrez smashed him with a kick to the face in the closing seconds of the first frame and controlled the fight the rest of the way. Ewell's durability (he has been knocked out just once in his pro career) and aggressiveness make him an intriguing fighter to watch, but the 33-year-old is sporting a .500 record (3-3) since taking a split decision from Renan Barao in his company debut back in September 2018. Expect Ewell's inconsistent ways to continue moving forward.

ANALYSIS
Ewell withdrew from last Saturday's fight against Cody Stamann for undisclosed reasons, but he'll be back in the Octagon this Saturday.
