Robertson next up
Viana will compete against Gillian Robertson in a strawweight fight at UFC 297 in Toronto on Jan. 20, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Viana will try to bounce back in 2024. 2023 was a relatively disappointing year for her career-wise. Viana was expected to fight Emily Ducote, but she withdrew not long after her bout was already rescheduled. Viana fought once during the year, finishing with a loss to Iasmin Lucindo.

Inconsistent ways continue
Viana lost to Iasmin Lucindo via submission (arm triangle) at 3:42 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 51 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Viana lost this fight about midway through Round 1. She landed a takedown on Lucindo and was in great shape to land some damage from top position, but her inactivity forced referee Chris Tognoni to (correctly) stand the women up, and Viana never threatened again offensively. She gave up a takedown to Lucindo late in the first frame and then again early in Round 2 before tapping out to an arm-triangle choke. Viana is 3-2 in her past five fights, which may not seem like anything to write home about, but is pretty darn good considering she lost three in a row prior to that run.

Slated to fight Lucindo
Viana will take on Iasmin Lucindo in a strawweight bout at a UFC event on Aug. 12 in Las Vegas, MMAFighting.com reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
After two straight cancelled bouts, Viana finally gets to return to the octagon. Her last fight came in November, when she disposed of Jihn Yu Frey with hooks in the first round. Now, she'll take on Iasmin Lucindo, who defeated Brogan Walker via unanimous decision back in April.
