Struggles to hold position
FeatherweightUFC
February 9, 2019
Buren lost to Jonathan Martinez via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC 234 on Saturday in Melbourne.
ANALYSIS
Buren was able to move forward and work for takedowns in this fight. However, he struggled to keep position on the ground. He allowed multiple reversals and lost position going for submissions on multiple occasions. Martinez got the better of the striking exchanges as well. Buren was game, but he will need to show more veteran savvy to take victories in the UFC. He has now lost three-straight fights in the UFC and might end up out of a job.

Buren drops UFC debut via unanimous decision
FeatherweightUFC
November 26, 2017
Buren was defeated by Rolando Dy via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night: Shanghai on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The story of this fight was Buren having significantly less physical abilities than Dy. Buren is a high-level Chinese wrestler, but was unable to consistently land takedowns and keep Dy grounded. The fight began with Dy dropping the UFC newcomer in the first round, and from that time Buren wanted to get the fight to the ground. However, Dy was consistently able to scramble with Buren, and even ended up on top in some of the scrambles. "Beast Master" only landed 36 percent of his takedowns in the fight, and Dy was able to get to his feet quickly in most situations. It was a competitive fight, but Buren was not able to deal with Dy's strength.
