Cut by UFC after suspension
MiddleweightOther
May 12, 2021
Piechota (suspension) was released by the UFC on Wednesday, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Piechota had recently accepted a 22-month ban after failing a drug test, that was going to put him out until July of 2022. That combined with the fact that he had suffered four straight losses are the biggest reasons as to why he was let go by the UFC.

Accepts 22-month ban
MiddleweightOther
May 5, 2021
Piechota accepted a 22-month suspension from the USADA after failing a drug test, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Piechota will be out of action until the summer of 2022. His ineligibility began on September 25, 2020 when his positive sample was collected. This is actually a reduction of the normal two-year suspension based on full and complete cooperation. Piechota last fought in June of 2020.
Fourth straight stoppage loss
MiddleweightOther
June 20, 2020
Piechota lost to Marc-Andre Barriault via TKO (punches) at 4:50 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Piechota's massive struggles continue. He has now lost four straight fights via stoppage after winning his first two UFC bouts. That might be some sort of record. Piechota's biggest problem during his time with the company has been his inability to properly defend himself. He will generate some offense here and there, but he has zero answers for anything his opposition sends back his way. On Saturday, he had all sorts of problems with strikes from Barriault in tight. The UFC is going to have a very difficult time running Piechota back out there despite the fact he turned just 30 years of age this past January.
Added to June 20 card
MiddleweightOther
May 25, 2020
Piechota will take on Marc-Andre Barriault in a middlweight matchup at a yet-to-be-determined location June 20, Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA reports.
ANALYSIS
The pair of middleweights were expected to clash in Saskatoon at the same date, but the event will be rescheduled to a new location, presumably Las Vegas. The two could very well be fighting for their livelihood in the UFC, as both enter this bout on a three-fight losing streak. Barriault has a higher striking volume, but he gets hit considerably more than Piechota. Neither has much of an offensive wrestling game to speak of.
Will fight on June 20 in Saskatoon
MiddleweightOther
March 4, 2020
Piechota will square off against Marc-Andre Barriault on June 20 at UFC Saskatoon, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Piechota will be looking to rebound after having lost his last three fights. His most recent loss came at UFC 245 against Punahele Soriano.
Finished for third straight fight
MiddleweightOther
December 14, 2019
Piechota lost to Puna Soriano via KO (punch) at 3:17 of Round 2 at UFC 245 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing result for Piechota in a fight that he had to have. Entering on a two-fight losing streak and having been stopped in both bouts, the soon-to-be 30-year-old barely lasted three minutes. Piechota engaged Soriano in repeated striking exchanges despite having nowhere near the power his opponent possesses. He ended up paying for it in the end. A loser of three in a row and without a win in nearly two years, Piechota's future remains exceedingly bleak.
