Crowder didn't have a chance to do much of anything Saturday, as a sharp counter straight right put him on his back immediately before some haymakers from the top closed the show. Crowder has shown himself to be a decent pressure fighter who can follow a game plan, but he does tend to hang his chin out when throwing shots, which is a recipe for disaster against a powerful, fast kickboxer. That's one way to pick up your first UFC victory. Regardless of the circumstances that ended the fight, Crowder deserves some credit. He ate all the power punches that Hardy threw his way and he forced Hardy to defend in the later stages of the fight. It wasn't pretty but Crowder stuck with it and got the win because of Hardy's stupidity. Crowder's future is bleak but he can tell his grand kids that he has a win in the UFC over a former NFL All-Pro.

Hardy is on a six-fight winning streak composed entirely of first-round knockouts, so the suspect striking defense showed in Crowder's debut will be an aspect of his game he'll need to address. Considering Hardy is still new to the sport, Crowder might be better suited to try and wear him out by taking this fight to the mat.
