Taking on Jamie Pickett
Anders agreed to face Jamie Pickett in a middleweight bout at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Anders lost his lone fight of 2023 to Marc-Andre Barriault in June and has lost three of his past four bouts, so this is an important matchup for his UFC outlook. Pickett is trending in a similar direction with four straight losses, with the last coming against Josh Fremd in August.

Hangs tough in decision loss
Anders lost to Marc-Andre Barriault via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 289 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
The result isn't what Anders was hoping for, but he was competitive the entire way -- no small feat considering he was knocked down and nearly finished by Barriault about 15 seconds into the fight. Anders tried to get his opponent to the mat time and time again, but ultimately landed just 1-of-11 takedown attempts, something that very well may have cost him the fight. Now 36 years of age, the end result aside, this is the type of fight of effort we need to see from Anders if he hopes to have any sort of sustained success moving forward. "Ya Boi" is just 1-3 in his last four bouts dating back to December 2021, so it's imperative Anders make a move sooner rather than later. In the meantime, he'll go home with an extra $50,000 after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Takes out Kyle Daukaus
Anders defeated Kyle Daukaus via TKO (punches) at 2:45 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 42 on Saturday in Orlando.
ANALYSIS
It was an excellent effort for Anders on the heels of his hard-luck split decision loss to Jun Yong Park in May. The rep on Anders has long been he's a former high-end athlete with legitimate power, but the rest of his game has never really developed. That may well be true, but it didn't matter in this fight because Daukaus was unable to get out of the way of anything Anders threw. For all Eryk's inconsistencies, he's been finished just once in his pro career, so he typically has a chance to get to his trademark power. It still seems unlikely Anders, set to turn 36 years of age next April, runs off a prolonged winning streak, but this was a good start.

Set to fight Daukaus
Anders will take on Kyle Daukaus in a middleweight contest at a UFC event December third, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Anders has now suffered two losses in a row, and will now take on the younger Kyle Daukaus in December. It will be interesting to see how the 35 year-old stacks up against Daukaus, who also suffered a loss in his last fight.
