Drakkar Klose

To fight Dariush in Sacramento
May 14, 2019
Klose will take on Beneil Dariush in a lightweight matchup at UFC Sacramento on July 13.
Klose is 9-1 as a pro and 4-1 in UFC, most recent defeating Bobby Green via unanimous decision. While he's enjoyed success, the run has been less enjoyable for fantasy owners, as all of his UFC fights have gone to the judges, and he has yet to surpass 100 significant strikes in a contest. In fact, his best total (68) came in his UFC debut against Devin Powell. Nonetheless, Dariush will be his toughest test to date, and is coming off back-to-back wins of his own. Both height and reach favor Dariush, in addition to striking volume and striking differential. The two men have nearly identical offensive wrestling numbers, though Dariush has a takedown defense 10 percent better (over a much larger sample size).

Edges hard-fought decision
December 15, 2018
Klose defeated Bobby Green via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 29-28) at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
A back-and-forth Round 1 followed by a Green-controlled Round 2 left this fight hanging in the balance heading into the final frame but Klose was able to turn on the pressure as his opponent tired to take the decision. While he has yet to record a finish in the organization, Klose's UFC wins include a who's who of exciting young fighters. He can now add a tough veteran to that list. He improves to 10-1-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
Will fight Bobby Green at UFC on Fox 31
September 3, 2018
Klose will take on Bobby Green in a lightweight contest at UFC on Fox 31 on December 15, MMAFighting.com reports.
Klose is coming off a bounce-back performance back in July, rebounding off his first career loss with a unanimous decision victory over Lando Vannata. Klose will look to keep it rolling on December 15 against Bobby Green, who is coming off back-to-back wins. Klose has potential to become a ranked fighter in his future, but will need to continue to look strong and pick up wins.
Rebounds with strong performance at UFC 226
July 7, 2018
Klose defeated Lando Vannata via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 226 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was an excellent effort from Klose on the heels of his first career loss last December. Knowing full well he was going up against an opponent in Vannata who does a poor job of defending himself, Klose won with placement and physicality. He landed 62 percent (73/118) of his total strikes and scored 3:32 worth of control time. He also successfully defended three of Vannata's four takedown attempts. The biggest concern regarding Klose moving forward is his inability to finish fights. He hasn't earned a stoppage win in nearly three years and his four knockout wins came in his first five career fights. Klose has talent, but at some point you need to stop your opposition.
Books fourth UFC fight
May 30, 2018
Klose will take on Lando Vannata in a lightweight matchup at UFC 226 on July 7, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Klose is 2-1 in the UFC and is coming off a unanimous-decision loss to David Teymur in December. All three of his fights have gone to the judges so far, but he's connected on 39 or more significant strikes, as well as land two or more takedowns, in each of those fights. This one seems less likely to go to the judges, as he'll draw an opponent in Vannata that throws a tremendously high striking volume, but also tends to get hit a lot himself. It's a stacked Vegas card in July, but don't sleep on this preliminary bout.
Suffers first pro loss at hands of David Teymur
December 2, 2017
Klose lost to David Teymur via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 218 on Saturday in Detroit.
Seemingly more interested in playing to the crowd as opposed to actually fighting, Klose suffered the first loss of his professional career. He struggled to land on the feet with any regularity, and even though he was able to score with a pair of takedowns, Teymur was back on his feet moments later in both instances. Klose is useful roster depth, but there is little reason to get excited here.
