Macfarlane defeated Valerie Letourneau via submission (triangle choke) at 3:19 of Round 3 at Bellator 213 on Saturday in Honolulu.
ANALYSIS
For the second fight in a row, Macfarlane started out slow and turned it on late. After a lackluster first round, Macfarlane scored a takedown in the second. Letourneau was game and scrambled back to her feet. Once they returned to the feet, Letourneau went to work with her striking and seemed to be pulling ahead in the fight. However, the third round was a different story. Macfarlane scored an early takedown and began chaining submission attempts together. She started with a rear-naked choke, transitioned into an armbar and finally ended up with a triangle choke which ended the fight. Macfarlane retained the Bellator flyweight title, remains undefeated and she is quickly becoming the most marketable homegrown fighter in Bellator.

Next title defense booked
FlyweightBellator
September 13, 2018
MacFarlane will defend her flyweight title against Valerie Letourneau on Dec. 15 in Honolulu, Hawaii, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane improved her perfect MMA record to 8-0 when she picked up her third consecutive submission victory against Alejandra Lara at Bellator 201. She'll now set her sights on Letourneau, a 35-year-old American Top Team product that is 2-0 under the Bellator banner after leaving the UFC on a three-fight losing streak. It may be a challenger for MacFarlane to work submissions against a larger woman in Letourneau, who will enter the fight with three-inch height and 1.5-inch reach advantages. Letourneau has also logged twice as many professional fights as the 28-year-old champion, who will be making her second title defense.

Macfarlane defeated Alejandra Lara via submission (armbar) at 3:55 of Round 3 at Bellator 201 on Friday in Temecula, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Macfarlane had a lot of trouble with Lara's height, reach and movement in the first round. When she did close the distance and go for a takedown she ended up on the bottom. However, in the next two rounds, she was able to score takedowns and work from the top position. In the third round, Macfarlane took the mount position. She began raining down punches, before going for an armbar. Lara fought the hold hard and survived for an extended period of time. However, she eventually submitted. Macfarlane will continue to lord over Bellator's deepest women's division. Her next fight will likely be against former UFC title challenge Valerie Letourneau.

MacFarlane defeated Emily Ducote via submission (triangle armbar) at 3:42 of Round 5 at Bellator 186 on Friday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane clearly went back to the drawing board and worked on her striking following her first fight with Ducote. Their first meeting was basically a series of wrestling exchanges. In this fight, MacFarlane set herself apart from Ducote by continually scoring from the outside. Her jab and hooks scored from a distance that Ducote could not land from. MacFarlane also landed some very solid clinch knees throughout the fight. At the end of the first round, she nearly finished via armbar, but Ducote was saved by the bell. In the final round, Ducote finally scored a takedown. MacFarlane showed off her noted submission game and locked on a triangle armbar to finish the fight. This was an all around strong performance from MacFarlane, and she clearly set herself apart from the rest of the Bellator women's flyweight division. She improves to 7-0 overall and becomes the first-ever Bellator women's flyweight champion.

MacFarlane will face Emily Ducote in a flyweight contest at Bellator 186 on November 3 in Pennsylvania, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane has emerged as a top female fighter for Bellator and has been given the chance to claim the first women's flyweight title in a major U.S. promotion. While the UFC is also introducing the division this year, this matchup will happen first. The 27-year-old has a 6-0 record (5-0 Bellator) that includes a unanimous decision over Emily Ducote from December 2016. The rematch will bring the flyweight division to the forefront for Bellator fans as well as female competitors looking for a new weight class.
Makes quick work of Jessica Middleton on Friday
FlyweightBellator
April 21, 2017
MacFarlane defeated Jessica Middleton via submission (armbar) at 2:15 of Round 1 at Bellator 178 on Friday.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane showed off her ground wizardry once again, tripping Middleton against the cage and catching the armbar when she tried to turn away from mount. Middleton deserves credit for holding out for as long as she did, but MacFarlane eventually wrenched the arm underneath her far armpit to get the tap. The 27-year-old called for a title fight after the victory, and it's hard to argue with the sentiment, as she is now 6-0 in professional MMA, finishing three of her five Bellator wins by submission.
