Wins PFL LHW title with TKO
WelterweightPFL
November 28, 2022
Wilkinson defeated Omari Akhmedov via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2 of the 2022 PFL Championships to win the light heavyweight belt and $1 million top prize.
ANALYSIS
You may remember Wilkinson from a brief stint with the UFC in 2018 that ended with a loss to future title holder Israel Adesanya. Since then, Wilkinson has booked fights on the regional circuits, in addition to a few kickboxing and boxing matches. He seems to have hit his stride with PFL, however, earning his spot in the championship with three consecutive stoppage wins. The title fight was no different, as he was able to fend off Akhmedov's takedown attempts while getting the better of the striking exchanges in a fight that could have been called off multiple times before the cageside physician stepped in. The 30-year-old Australian will be a title threat for as long as he chooses to remain with the PFL.

Dealt long medical suspension
WelterweightPFL
February 18, 2018
WIlkinson received a 180-day medical suspension following his TKO loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 221, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilkinson suffered a savage beating at the hands of skilled striking prospect Israel Adesanya, a fight in which he was clearly overmatched. If the UFC decides to keep him around, it will be at least six months before he can step into the Octagon again, as he appeared to have suffered multiple facial injuries in the loss. As is typical in these situations, he could fight again earlier if he receives clearance from an OMF or ENT.
Can't handle Israel Adesanya at UFC 221
WelterweightPFL
February 10, 2018
Wilkinson lost to Israel Adesanya via TKO (strikes) at 3:37 of Round 2 at UFC 221 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
You have to feel a bit bad for Wilkinson as he was fed to the wolves in his home country. Facing one of the best striking prospects that we have seen in the UFC in recent memory, Wilkinson had less than no chance once Adesanya was able to separate from him and create distance in Round 2. It didn't help that referee Steve Perceval allowed him to absorb at least a dozen unnecessary strikes before he finally stopped the action. Wilkinson is now 0-2 in his brief UFC career and could be looking at a release.

Falls in his UFC debut
WelterweightPFL
September 2, 2017
Wilkinson lost to Siyar Bahadurzada via TKO (Punches) at 3:10 on Round 2 at UFC Fight Night 115 on Saturday in Rotterdam.
ANALYSIS
Wilkinson did not shine in his UFC debut. He had some success with takedowns and clinch fighting along the cage. However, Bahadurzada was throwing power punches and looking for the knockout the entire time. Wilkinson will need to go back to the drawing board if he hopes to survive in the UFC welterweight division.
