DraftKings NHL: Sunday Value Plays

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Welcome to the final day of March. Don't make yourself look foolish by picking a poor daily fantasy lineup as we head into April. Here are my recommendations based on the five NHL games Sunday starting at 5:00 PM ET or later.

GOALIE

Darcy Kuemper, ARI vs. MIN ($8,000): Kuemper has been basically the only thing keeping the Coyotes in the playoff race the last couple of weeks. Over his last 15 starts, he has posted an 1.87 GAA and .938 save percentage. He'll be trying to carry Arizona to a win over the Wild, who have only scored 2.63 goals per game. That's bottom five in the NHL.

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY at SAN ($6,300): Monahan was going through a bit of a rough patch, but he ended that in style by notching two goals and two assists in his last game - giving him 80 points on the season. The Sharks have struggled with an .889 team save percentage, and they are on the second day of a back-to-back.

David Krejci, BOS at DET ($5,300): Over his last 13 games, Krejci has tallied 12 points. That gives him 67 points in 78 contests. Now he's taking on a Red Wings team with a 3.33 GAA since the All-Star break that seems as interested in trying out young players as competing down the stretch.

WING

Artemi Panarin, CLM at BUF ($5,700): Panarin picked up four assists Saturday, giving him a four-game point streak. He's also started a whopping 76.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Blue Jackets. Both of these teams are on the second day of a back-to-back, but the Sabres are the one with a 3.93 GAA since the All-Star break.

Bryan Rust, PIT vs. CAR ($4,600): Since returning from injury, Rust has hopped back on Pittsburgh's top line with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel. It's paying off, as he's registered four points over his last six contests. Normally, the Hurricanes are good defensively, but they are on the road for the second day of a back-to-back. That's enough to make me feel comfortable recommending Rust.

Michael Frolik, CGY at SAN ($4,400): Frolik may be on Calgary's second line, but it's as good as any second line in the league. He's notched 15 goals and 18 assists in 61 games, even though he doesn't see much power-play time. Meanwhile, the Sharks have a 3.36 GAA in March, and they are on the second leg of a back-to-back to boot.

DEFENSE

Seth Jones, CLM at BUF ($6,100): Jones has notched 44 points in 71 games this season. He's also tallied 173 shots on goal and blocked 129 shots. In March, the Sabres have recorded a whopping 4.07 GAA, and they've given up 34.8 shots on net per contest. That bodes well for Jones.

Rasmus Dahlin, BUF vs. CLM ($4,500): Dahlin has hit the ground running as a rookie. He's averaged 21:10 in ice time - including 2:54 per game with the extra man - while tallying 41 points. Though Sergei Bobrovsky has played some great hockey recently, the Blue Jackets are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and Bob started Saturday. Fatigue could be an issue.
