Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Sunday's six-game slate staggers across the entire day with the first puck dropping at 12:30 E.T. and the final game starting at 9:00 ET. Here are some players to steer toward and some to run from to help guide your daily fantasy quest.

GOALIE

Linus Ullmark, BUF at NJD ($28): Ullmark has had his struggles lately, but he's been calm and collected on the road all season with a .923 save percentage. The Devils rank in the bottom half of the league with both 2.90 goals per game and a 19.1 power-play percentage, while scoring three or less goals in eight of the last nine games. This sets up Ullmark nicely to secure his 14th win of the season.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. STL ($32): Dubnyk has lost three straight, posting an .864 save percentage and allowing five goals in two of those outings. He draws a tough divisional matchup against the Blues, who have won nine straight games and scored at least three goals in all but one of those contests. Dubnyk and the Wild aren't ready to stop that freight train.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT vs. NYR ($27): Due to injuries and a suspension, Malkin has only played in two of the last eight games. However, when in the lineup, Malkin's been a force with a point in 12 of 13 games since the calendar flipped to 2019. He'll get to tee off on the league's 25th-ranked penalty kill in this outing, putting him in line for another ink fest on the scoresheet.

CENTER TO AVOID

Vincent Trocheck, FLA vs. MON ($20): Trocheck can't seem to get it going, with no goals and two assists over the last eight outings. Although he flanks a line with premium wingers Mike Hoffman and Evgenii Dadonov, he's separated from those two on the power play and has gone pointless there over the last eight contests.

WINGS

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL at MIN ($25): Tarasenko's not only riding an 11-game point streak, but his production is accelerating with seven goals and four assists over the last five outings. When Tarasenko is playing like this, the other Blues know to feed him the puck so he's averaged 3.8 shots on net during that span. Spending up here is worth every penny, especially against the Wild who have yielded five goals in back-to-back games.

Mike Hoffman, FLA vs. MON ($20): The Canadiens average 3.33 goals against during the second half of back-to-back games this campaign. Hoffman has accumulated 47 points in 56 games, and he'll have the luxury of facing off against the league's 20th-ranked penalty kill at 79.7 percent. That's not to mention he's already recorded three points in two games versus the Habs this year, making his price tag a serious bargain.

WINGS TO AVOID

Zach Parise, MIN vs. STL ($23): The Blues have been playing lockdown defense lately with back-to-back shutouts, while allowing just two power-play goals in the last six outings. When Parise can't find the scoresheet, the side effects can be gut-wrenching as he recorded a minus-5 rating over the last five games and doesn't shoot enough to make up for that mark.

Chris Kreider, NYR at PIT ($20): Points can come and go, but shots on net are a good signal of a player's trajectory. Kreider has recorded one or less shots on goal three times in the last five games, and he also finished with a negative plus-minus rating in three of those outings. The Penguins have been strong at home this season, which will make it tough for Kreider to break through.

DEFENSEMEN

Alex Pietrangelo, STL at MIN ($20): Although Pietrangelo's gone pointless in the last two games, he boasts an intriguing floor with a plus-10 rating, eight shots on net and seven blocked shots over the last three. Pietrangelo continues to log major power-play minutes, which will put him in line for continued production as the Wild's opponents have scored on 33.3 percent of power-play chances since the All-Star break.

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI at DET ($17): Gostisbehere is heating up with a goal and five assists over the last five games, including a tally and a helper in Saturday's contest versus the Red Wings. Both of those points were at even strength but he also works on the Flyers' power play, which will look to harvest on Detroit's 24th-ranked penalty kill. He's at a major discount and should be wielded as such.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Rasmus Dahlin, BUF at NJD ($17): The 18-year-old phenom has six points since the All-Star break, but he's depended on the man advantage for half of those. That will limit his opportunities against the Devils, who rank third in the league with an 83.9 penalty-kill percentage.

Kevin Shattenkirk, NYR at PIT ($18): Shattenkirk may have notched an assist in each of the last two games, but he's pointless with a minus-4 rating in the other seven games since the break. His season-long 50.8 Corsi For percentage and 16 total points make him best suited for the bench, especially against the league's seventh-ranked penalty kill.
