FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

It's a busy Tuesday in the NHL, as there are 12 games on the slate. To make things even more interesting, all four road teams from Monday are once again on the road for the second leg of a back-to-back. That will entice daily fantasy players. Here are my recommendations for your lineup.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. ANA ($8,700): Last year was a lost season for Price, and while he hasn't been at his peak this year, his 2.57 GAA and .915 save percentage are both more than acceptable. He certainly can't be worried about this matchup. The Ducks are 30th in goals per game, and last in shots on net per game, and they are one of the teams on the road for the second night of a back-to-back.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS vs. VAN ($6,400): Do we take Backstrom for granted at this point? Perhaps we do, given that we rarely talk about him despite the fact he has 52 points in 51 games. That includes 20 points with the extra man. Since Jacob Markstrom started Monday, Thatcher Demko will likely be in net Tuesday. He may have a bright future, but he's also played in only two NHL games in his career.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM vs. CHI ($5,900): Nugent-Hopkins bounces back and forth from center to wing, but he's in the middle for the Oilers at the moment. The first-overall pick has had his biggest power-play season in years, as he's averaged 3:31 per game with the extra man, notching 18 power-play points in the process. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have the league's worst penalty kill. You can put the pieces together on that one.

WING

Kyle Palmieri, NJD vs. LOS ($6,400): Palmieri is a real power-play maven, as the 27-year-old has 15 points with the extra man in 51 contests. That's after he had 23 power-play points in 62 games last year. He'll likely be salivating at this matchup, as the Kings have the 30th-ranked penalty kill, and they are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back.

Kyle Connor, WPG vs. SAN ($6,300): Let's double down on Kyles! Connor has 22 goals after scoring 31 as a rookie, and he's been lighting the lamp with gusto recently. He's notched nine goals in his last 12 contests. The Sharks have been almost puzzlingly bad on the road. They have a 3.85 GAA in away games.

Jaden Schwartz, STL at FLA ($4,800): Simply put, Schwartz can't keep scoring at this paltry rate. He has a 2.9 shooting percentage, which is almost unheard of for a forward, let alone one who scored 24 goals in 62 games last season. Perhaps this matchup will help him turn it around, as the Panthers have a 3.42 GAA.

DEFENSE

Darnell Nurse, EDM vs. CHI ($5,400):Oscar Klefbom is still out, which means that Nurse's complete turnaround should continue. His minutes, especially on the power play, soared when the Swedish defenseman went down, and Nurse has 20 points in his last 20 games. Now he's facing a Blackhawks team with a 3.68 GAA that has given up 35.1 shots on net per contest.

Ryan Ellis, NAS vs. ARI ($5,000): Ellis has looked more like the player who had 32 points in 44 games last season recently. Over his last 15 outings he's notched eight points, and he's also blocked 35 shots in that time as well. The Coyotes are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back. That likely means Calvin Pickard in net, and he's posted a 3.79 GAA and .869 save percentage in limited action this season.
