FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The NFL season is over, finishing on a game that had barely more scoring than your average NHL outing. Now, though, we can focus all our attention on hockey. There are four games on the NHL docket Monday. Here are my daily fantasy lineup recommendations.

GOALIE

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR vs. LOS ($7,800): This is about the right price for Lundqvist. He's cheaper than some of the other goalies with favorable matchups, but the value here is also about his matchup. The Kings have only scored 2.25 goals per game. That's the lowest in the NHL. Sounds good for King Henrik.

CENTER

Elias Pettersson, VAN at PHI ($6,300): We've got quite the rookie battle here in Pettersson versus Carter Hart. Both have been impressive, but the Swedish center has done it in a slightly bigger sample with 23 goals and 46 points in 41 games. That also includes four points in three games since returning from injury.

Kevin Hayes, NYR vs. LOS ($5,500): Hayes has 36 points in 42 games, including 10 with the extra man. In fact, in his last two outings, all three of his points have come on the power play. That's worth noting here, because the Kings have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

WING

Travis Konecny, PHI vs. VAN ($4,900): Konecny has started 52.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is second highest among Flyers forwards. He's also registered a point in four of his last five games. As for the Canucks, they have a 3.19 GAA on the road.

Ilya Kovalchuk, LOS at NYR ($4,700): Kovalchuk hasn't been what the Kings hoped when he returned from Russia, but he's played better recently. He's notched three goals and three assists in his last nine contests. Though I recommended Lundqvist in net due to the overall awfulness of the Kings' offense, they do have a 3.31 GAA as a team.

Kasperi Kapanen, TOR vs. ANA ($4,400): Kapanen has enjoyed a breakout campaign, as he has 15 goals and 15 assists in 51 games. John Gibson has done his best to keep the Ducks afloat, but the team still has a 3.08 GAA on the road. That's because they've allowed 34.2 shots on net per contest in away games. Kapanen should be able to get pucks on net.

DEFENSE

Morgan Rielly, TOR vs. ANA ($5,800): Rielly is getting hot again, as he has eight points in his last 11 outings. That gives him 52 points in 51 games overall. He's also notched 135 shots on net, and remember that the Ducks have given up 34.2 shots on goal per contest on the road.

Alexander Edler, VAN at PHI ($4,300): It seems odd Edler is this cheap, given that he's averaged 13.1 fantasy points per game. That's tied for second most among defenseman in action Monday. Sure, Hart has been good, but not so much as to be totally imposing. Plus, Edler has 10 power-play points in 37 games, and the Flyers have the 28th-ranked penalty kill.
