DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jordan Binnington, STL at NYI ($7,000): Binnington has swooped in and breathed new life into the Blues, winning all three of his starts with a .941 save percentage. It's not uncommon for goalies to get hot like this, and prior to his call-up, Binnington was also brilliant with AHL San Antonio. The Islanders just pumped five past the Lightning on Sunday, but keep in mind they're 15th in goals per game.

CENTER

Steven Stamkos, TB at DAL ($7,500): Stamkos, who has 30 points in 20 games since Dec. 1 and is currently on pace for 40 goals, is averaging 19:19 of ice time in January when he averaged a shade under 18 through the first three months of the season. Perhaps Jon Cooper was saving him for the second half?

Phillip Danault, MON vs. FLA ($4,800): Danault performed well against Patrice Bergeron, playing over 20 minutes with 17 faceoff wins, a blocked shot and an assist. He has another tough assignment against Aleksander Barkov, but he certainly looks ready for the task, and over the past 10 games, he's been the Habs' top scorer with nine points.

WING

Cam Atkinson, CLS vs. NJ ($7,500): Atkinson's been reliable for the Jackets this season, and with two goals in his past two games, it looks like he might go on a binge yet again, especially against the Devils' weak goaltending. He's a high-volume shooter and has two goals against the Devils this year.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at SJ ($6,600): He's scored seven goals in six games already this month and it's kind of shocking his absurd shooting percentage (19.0) isn't that much higher than his career average (16.4). Guentzel might just be one of those efficient scorers who don't need a lot of shots to score, and obviously playing with Sidney Crosby helps. Expected starter Martin Jones has a career .894 save percentage against the Pens.

Rickard Rakell, ANA at DET ($5,400): Rakell played over 21 minutes and scored a goal, his second point in three games since returning from injury. He's been thrown into the fire right away despite missing a lot of time because the flailing Ducks are desperate. Rakell is a key forward, arguably their most important, and the Wings' young defense hasn't been very reliable this season.

DEFENSE

Roman Josi, NSH vs. WAS ($6,300): He's got four points in his past three games and 34 in 47 games overall, putting him on pace for a potential 60-point season. P.K. Subban has returned to the lineup, but it hasn't stopped Josi from stacking up the points. The Caps will be a tough opponent, but the Preds have been very good at home this season. Josi played 24:25 with an assist in their previous matchup.

Jacob Trouba, WPG vs. VGK ($5,200): Health has always been an issue for the young rearguard, but he's managed to avoid any serious injuries this season. Through 45 games, Trouba is on pace for a record season in virtually all categories. That gives him a high floor, and with no Dustin Byfuglien and potentially no Tyler Myers, Trouba's usage might shoot through the roof against the Knights.
