DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Saturday, the attention of the sports world will be on the NFL playoffs, but don't forget about the NHL. There are 10 games Saturday night, and here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Mikko Koskinen, EDM vs. ARI ($7,700): Koskinen has a 2.72 GAA and .913 save percentage overall, but he's been a decidedly different goalie at home. In his last 10 outings in Edmonton, he has a 2.24 GAA and .928 save percentage. Now he faces a Coyotes team that have scored a mere 2.56 goals per game, 29th in the NHL.

CENTER

Jonathan Toews, CHI vs. VGK ($5,300): Toews has been playing some great hockey recently. He has at least one point in seven of his last eight games, and 16 points in his last 14 contests. While the Golden Knights have been great at home, on the road they are decidedly more average. They actually have a 3.12 GAA away from Vegas.

Joe Thornton, SAN vs. OTT ($3,500): There's more gray in Thornton's beard than there used to be, but he's still got some life left in his legs. The 39-year-old has 20 points in 37 games, including five in his last nine. Of course, you don't have to have a pedigree like Thornton's to excel against the Senators. They have a whopping 4.52 GAA in away games.

WING

Max Pacioretty, VGK at CHI ($5,600): Injuries have hurt Pacioretty in his first season with the Golden Knights, but he's healthy now, and he's skating on the Knights' top line. He also has three points in his last four games since returning from his latest injury. The Blackhawks have a 3.61 GAA, second highest in the NHL, and also the league's worst penalty kill. Both bode well for Pacioretty.

Tomas Tatar, MON vs. COL ($5,300): Let's turn our attention to Pacioretty's old team, though he and Tatar didn't cross paths. Tatar has proven that his hot start wasn't a total fluke, as he has nine points in his last nine games. Colorado has been surprisingly poor defensively this year. The Avalanche have a 3.46 GAA on the road, and Semyon Varlamov has struggled mightily recently. He has a 4.47 GAA and .849 save percentage in his last eight outings.

Mikael Granlund, MIN vs. DET ($5,200): Granlund's 39 points in 43 games has him tied for the team lead for the Wild, and he has 12 points with the extra man to boot. As of Friday night, the Red Wings had a 3.70 GAA on the road, and also had given up 35.1 shots on net per contest. Detroit won't just be away from home in this one, it will also be on the second night of a back-to-back.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL vs. STL ($5,800): Klingberg is looking like himself recently after missing so much of the season with an injury. The Swedish defenseman has seven points in his last six games, including four with the extra man. Meanwhile, St. Louis' Jake Allen has a 3.07 GAA and .896 save percentage, but has been even worse recently. Over his last 13 games he has a 3.20 GAA and .882 save percentage.

Michal Kempny, WAS vs. CLM ($4,600): Kempny doesn't see much power-play time, but he skates on Washington's top pair with John Carlson, which goes a long way. He's also picked up four points in his last six games for good measure. Joonas Korpisalo has struggled all season, but recently Sergei Bobrovsky has had his issues as well. Bob has a 3.19 GAA and .897 save percentage in his last seven starts.
