DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The year 2018 is almost in the books, but first the NHL is blowing things out Saturday. There are 15 games in total on the slate, and 11 of them are in the evening. Those are the games I will be focusing on when I make these recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS at OTT ($8,200): Holtby is finally starting to look like the goalie he has been in the past. On the season, he has a .915 save percentage, but over his last six starts he has a 1.82 GAA and .941 save percentage. The Senators can generate a little offense, but they are bad overall, and they are on the second night of a back-to-back. Holtby should easily be able to pick up the win.

CENTER

Sean Couturier, PHI at FLA ($5,400): Couturier broke out last season with 31 goals and 76 points. He's lived up to that this year, as he has 14 goals and 28 points through 34 games. Meanwhile, the Panthers are playing their second game in as many days, and they are in the bottom five in GAA.

Kyle Turris, NAS vs. NYR ($3,700): Turris has started a whopping 70.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Predators. He's also averaged 2:37 per game with the extra man. As for the Rangers, they've struggled mightily on the road. They have a 4.31 GAA and have given up 35.3 shots on net per game in away contests.

WING

Alexander Radulov, DAL vs. DET ($6,800): The Stars are a one-line team, but the guys on that one line are usually a sound bet (regardless of what Jim Lites has to say). That includes Radulov, who has 11 goals and 29 points through 28 games. The Wings are another team that struggles on the road. They have a 3.63 GAA and have allowed 34.7 shots on net per contest away from home.

Bryan Rust, PIT at STL ($5,600): Finally, playing on a line with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel is paying off for Rust. Through his last eight games he's tallied eight goals and three assists. The Blues have a 3.26 GAA, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the 26-year-old stay hot.

Clayton Keller, ARI at ANA ($4,300): Keller has been the rare bright spot on Arizona's offense. He has 26 points through 37 games, including 11 on the power play. The reason for this recommendation is that John Gibson hurt himself in his last start, which means he may not be able to play in this game. If that's the case, with Ryan Miller also on injured reserve, Chad Johnson may be stuck getting the start. Johnson has a 3.37 GAA and .888 save percentage and would be playing behind a Ducks defense that has allowed 34.8 shots on net per game, which would bode well for Keller.

DEFENSE

Ryan McDonagh, TAM vs. MON ($4,700): McDonagh has slowed down a bit offensively, but he has 22 points through 38 games. He's also notched 65 shots on goal and blocked 73 shots. The Canadiens are on the second night of a back-to-back, and Carey Price recently ended up on injured reserve. That means Antti Niemi will have to get back-to-back starts, or Mike McNiven will get his first.

Dmitry Orlov, WAS at OTT ($3,500): Orlov has notched at least 29 points in each of his last three seasons, and he has 12 this year through 36 games. He also sees a smidge of power-play time, which should help in this matchup. In addition to having the 30th-ranked penalty kill, the Senators rank last in GAA and shots allowed per game. Oh, and they are playing their second game of a back-to-back Saturday.
