DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The weather is getting colder, snow is falling, and Thanksgiving is nearing. Truly, it's hockey season. Saturday is quite busy, with eight evening games on the NHL slate starting at 7:00 PM ET. You'll have a lot of options for your daily fantasy lineup. Perhaps consider some of these.

GOALIE

David Rittich, CGY vs. EDM ($7,800): Rittich is getting the start Saturday, because while Mike Smith has struggled, Rittich has a 1.91 GAA and .935 save percentage. He will likely regress, but the Flames have only allowed 28.4 shots on goal per game. The Oilers are in the bottom 10 in goals per game, so perhaps Rittich will stay hot.

CENTER

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLM at CAR ($6,000): Dubois has five points in his last three games, giving him 15 on the season. Only three of those have come on the power play, but he had 15 points with the extra man as a rookie. The Hurricanes have the 29th-ranked penalty kill, which bodes well for Dubois. Also an encouraging sign for the Jackets center? Carolina's .887 team save percentage.

Kyle Turris, NAS vs. LOS ($3,800): Turris has started 72.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest on the Predators (one-tenth of a percentage point behind linemate Craig Smith). It's paying off, as he has 14 points through 19 games. The Kings are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and their goaltending situation is a mess right now. Their best-case scenario is that third-string goalie Peter Budaj will get over his illness and be able to tend goal.

WING

Mike Hoffman, FLA at NYR ($6,600): Hoffman is enjoying a bit of a nice stretch of play, what with the fact he has a 14-game point streak. All 16 of his points have come in that time, including seven power-play points. The Rangers have a 3.26 GAA and have allowed 33.7 shots on net per game, so Hoffman may extend his point streak to 15 games.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT at OTT ($5,800): In each of his four seasons with the Penguins, Hornqvist has notched at least 21 goals and 220 shots on net. This year, he already has seven goals on 51 shots. The Senators, meanwhile, have the league's worst GAA (4.05) and have given up a staggering 38.5 shots on net per contest. Ottawa also has the league-worst penalty kill, and Hornqvist has at least 15 power-play points in each of his last four seasons.

Jake Virtanen, VAN vs. MON ($4,700): Virtanen has been lighting the lamp with gusto recently, as he has six goals in his last nine games. The 22-year-old was the sixth overall pick in 2014, so this is the kind of player he was expected to be someday. Perhaps he is coming into his own. As for the Canadiens, they have a 3.32 GAA and .894 save percentage.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT at OTT ($6,700): Letang is the one defenseman with any real offensive punch on the Penguins, and he has 13 points and 51 shots on net through 16 games. Though Letang is on the pricier side, the Senators rank last in GAA, shots allowed per game, and penalty-kill percentage, so he's still well worth it.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic, SAN vs. STL ($3,800): Vlasic scored a career-high 11 goals last year. He only has one goal this season, but his 2.9 shooting percentage is bound to improve. Plus, he has five assists to his name as well. The Blues are on the road for their second game of a back-to-back, and prior to Friday they had a 3.25 GAA as a team.
