Not sure about future with Chargers
OTLos Angeles Chargers
February 20, 2020
Okung is skeptical of the Chargers' direction and isn't sure about his future with the team, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers have young talent on both sides of the ball, but they're facing uncertainty at the most important position with quarterback Philip Rivers set to sign elsewhere as a free agent. Okung, the team's starting left tackle, was limited to six games in 2019, missing the first seven weeks of the season due to a pulmonary embolism and later missing time with a groin injury. The 31-year-old is under contract through 2020.

In his first full season with the Chargers, Okung solidified the LT position that had been a turnstile in past years, playing in 15 games while yielding zero sacks. On the second year of a four-year, $53 million contract he signed during the 2016 offseason, Okung is one of the feature offensive lineman in a unit that is widely regarded as an emerging core of the team.
The oft-injured Okung has never played a full season, missing two games last year with calf and chest injuries. When he plays, though, he's a stalwart at left tackle, though he allowed as many sacks last year (3.5) as he did in the previous two years combined (23 games). Health, and more consistency, is imperative this year for Okung, who will anchor a weak offensive line that will start mediocrity at left guard. A free agent at year's end, Okung might not be back next season if the Seahawks aren't willing to pay top dollar.
In four seasons, the injury prone Okung has played in only 45 of 64 games. He was limited to eight games last season because of a toe injury. When he's on the field, though, he's one of the league's best left tackles. A 2010 Pro Bowler, Okung has allowed 3.5 sacks the last two years (23 games).
The sixth overall pick in the June draft, Okung replaces the HOF-bound Walter Jones at left tackle. Okung will have his rookie struggles, but the Seahawks need him to develop quickly.
