Olympiacos Piraeus confirmed Monday that Pokusevski has left the team in preparation for signing a contract with the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder, who drafted him last week.
ANALYSIS
Though the 18-year-old Pokusevski likely isn't ready to handle a major role at basketball's top level of competition, the Thunder evidently felt that he would be better served having his development overseen in North America rather than overseas. The slick-passing forward was one of the Olympiacos' better young prospects, but he wasn't a regular in the rotation thus far in the team's EuroLeague slate, appearing in only two games and playing less than six minutes in total.
