Heading to NFL Draft
January 19, 2021
Mitchell announced via Twitter that he will forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
With the rule the NCAA put in place before the start of the 2020 season, Mitchell could have come back for one extra season but ultimately he decided his best move was to turn pro now. Mitchell racked up 47 receptions for 505 yards and four touchdowns this past season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
Mitchell has been consistent, albeit largely unspectacular over his last two seasons with the Bulldogs. The leading receiver for the Bulldogs still only managed just 430 yards and six touchdowns through the air, though admittedly shoddy quarterback play negatively affected his output. Mitchell is a huge target at 6-foot-5, and with no other receiver on the roster having even half as many catches as Mitchell a season ago, he should receive the lion’s share of the looks from Stanford transfer KJ Costello. Mitchell is by far the most experienced and productive wideout remaining on this roster, so opportunities will be plentiful, especially in a newly installed Mike Leach offense.
Mitchell led the Bulldogs in receptions and touchdown catches in 2018, but finished with just 26 grabs for 427 yards through the air, as the passing game largely struggled under the direction of Nick Fitzgerald. The Bulldogs have also made a strong return to the ground game, and Mitchell was one of eight pass catchers with double-digit receptions for Mississippi State in 2018. The Bulldogs will have a new quarterback under center in 2019, which further muddles the picture for the wide receivers. Mitchell has nice size, but there are a plethora of question marks for the MSU passing game heading into the season, making him a difficult player to trust with consistent production on the field.
