Moving back to quarterback
February 25, 2020
Coach Will Muschamp confirmed Tuesday that Urich will work exclusively at quarterback during South Carolina's spring practices, David Cloninger of The Charleston Post and Courier reports.
ANALYSIS
Urich served as a utility player for the Gamecocks as a redshirt sophomore in 2019, seeing most of his reps at wide receiver and on special teams despite being listed on the roster as a quarterback. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Urich counted an 11-yard reception as his lone statistical contributions on offense, so he likely wouldn't have been in line for a major role as a receiver even if he elected to make a full-time switch to the position. Urich won't have a direct path to playing time at quarterback either while incumbent starter Ryan Hilinski is healthy, but he could at least have a chance to open 2020 as the No. 2 option on the depth chart.
