Leaving College Station
January 5, 2019
Williams announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he would forgo his senior season at Texas A&M to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
It spells an end to a prolific three-year college career highlighted by a junior campaign in which Williams amassed 2,028 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns while averaging a healthy 6.5 yards per carry. Williams' production wasn't inflated by non-conference competition, either; as Ben Baby of The Dallas Morning News notes, he compiled 69.7 percent of his rushing yards against Power Five schools. Since Williams was unlikely to elevate his draft stock much higher by sticking around in College Station for another season, he'll move on to the pro ranks and should be among the first backs off the board in April. Freshman Jashaun Corbin is tentatively the next man up on the depth chart to replace Williams as the Aggies' top back.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Williams took a step back in 2017 with just 798 rushing yards after a 2016 season when he scampered for 1,057, although he did manage to find the end zone eight times and tack on 20 receptions for 192 yards. The Aggies have some veteran experience in James White and Keith Ford behind Williams at tailback, so it wouldn’t be a huge shock if all three backs saw substantial opportunities to make an impact. After sitting among the middle of the pack in rushing yardage per game and rushing play percentage (ranked 77th and 76th in FBS, respectively), fantasy owners should be hard pressed to rely on Williams to eclipse the 1,000-yard plateau, despite having a nose for the end zone.
