Farley (back) announced Wednesday that he won't play for Virginia Tech in 2020 and will instead spend the upcoming year training for the 2021 NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A rising redshirt junior, Farley as a first-team All-ACC cornerback in 2019 after notching 20 tackles and four interceptions. He required an offseason procedure on his back, but Farley was expected to be at full strength for the Hokies' training camp before he decided to opt out of the upcoming season. With the 2020 college football season in risk due to the coronavirus pandemic, Farley decided it was in his best interest to leave the Virginia Tech program and prepare for the NFL on his own. He's projected to be an early-round selection in 2021 by most draft outlets.
