Ilnicki signed a two-year deal with Ottawa in January, but he wasn't able the contract didn't last into the first season as he was cut before the team's opener June 21 against Saskatchewan. The former Hec Crighton Trophy winner will likely get a chance with another team at some point in the season, so he could be worth the risk once he finds a new home.
