Gilder has been cleared of a career-threatening blood clot in advance of his final season of eligibility at Gonzaga, Ben Baby of the Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
Fans of the Aggies were led to believe it was a hamstring injury that cost Gilder his senior season with the program, but roughly around graduation time, it was revealed that Gilder needed to have a rib removed as a preventative measure against a serious blood clot. Prior to the procedure, the clot had the potential to be career-threatening. Now with the medical issues behind him, Gilder heads to Gonzaga for his final year of eligibility, where he expects to start in the backcourt alongside fellow graduate transfer Ryan Woolridge. Considering Gilder averaged double-digit point totals for back-to-back years in the SEC, the 6-4 guard has the potential to be among the WCC's top overall scorers in the upcoming season. He's even drawn comparisons to former Bulldog Nigel Williams-Goss, at least on the offensive end. Coach Mark Few is one of the best in the nation at rebuilding via the transfer market, and it appears he's once again done just that to replace the likes of Josh Perkins (graduation) and Zach Norvell (turned pro early). Look for big things once again in Spokane in 2019-20.
