Butz was limited by an arm injury to close his sophomore season, playing only seven minutes in the CBI final against USF. That appears to be behind him, setting up the Indiana native to take over as the starting center for DePaul in the upcoming season. Butz often played second-fiddle to senior Femi Olujobi last year, but still managed to accrue 13 starts in 35 appearances. He should have no problem locking down the starting role in his junior season, though he will have to play alongside the stat-stuffing Paul Reed in the frontcourt. The duo combines to make one of the conference's stronger front lines, and with the 20.1 PPG left behind by senior wing Max Strus, it could be double-double galore for both players in 2019-20.
