Granted hardship waiver

May 12, 2020
The Big Ten approved Bohannon's (hip) request for a medical hardship waiver Tuesday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
After undergoing right hip surgery last May, Bohannon was surprisingly cleared to play in Iowa's 2019-20 opener. He struggled mightily in his 10 appearances, however, averaging 8.8 points in 25.0 minutes per game while shooting 29.8 percent from the field before he was shut down for good in mid-December, this time to undergo surgery on his left hip. Fortunately for Bohannon and Iowa, the Big Ten looked favorably on his injury situation, allowing him to return to the Hawkeyes in 2020-21 for his fifth and final year of eligibility. Assuming he enters the upcoming campaign in better health, Bohannon should recapture a starting role and serve as one of Iowa's primary ball-handlers and scorers, particularly if star center Luka Garza keeps his name in the 2020 NBA Draft.
