Friday Training Camp Notes: Love Ertz

Here's a look at the notes from Friday's camps and games:

- Everyone's trendy tight end sleeper pick, Zach Ertz, had surgery to repair a core muscle and will miss the entire preseason. The Eagles are hopeful that he'll be ready for Week 1 but that isn't a given at this point. The team has also stated this is not a sports hernia which is good news. Brent Celek would benefit the most should Ertz miss any time and Trey Burton would be thrust into more action as Chip Kelly loves to use two-tight end sets.

- Julio Jones appeared to be in mid-season form snagging a touchdown catch from Matt Ryan while totaling four passes for 61 yards on the Falcons opening drive. Granted, this was against the Titans but nonetheless an encouraging sign if you grabbed Julio in the second or third round. Jones averaged over 100 receiving yards per contest last season and only scoring six times for a player with those stats is fluky. While he may not eclipse the 1,500-yard mark again he should be very close to that mark and the touchdowns should see a nice bump into the double-digits.

- Martavis Bryant grabbed a 44-yard touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger in the first quarter and looks primed to build on his rookie campaign. DeAngelo Willams ran six times for 28 yards and is a sneaky play the first two weeks of the season in DFS with Le'Veon Bell suspended.

- An already depleted wide receiving corps in Chicago took another hit Thursday as it was revealed today that Alshon Jeffery is dealing with a calf injury. It's expected to sideline him for the next week and he's expected to be fine to start the season.

- Both Antone Smith (hamstring) and Julius Thomas (hand) left their respective preseason games due to injury. Smith actually injured himself on a 1-yard touchdown run and was in line to get some early season work with both Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman dealing with similar injuries. As for Thomas, is he's forced to miss any time veteran Marcedes Lewis would benefit the most. The severity of both injuries is unknown as of now, more information should be available over the weekend.

- Marcus Mariota found out that there's a difference between going against his own defense in practice and going against another team's defense. Mariota threw a pick and fumbled away another turnover while playing only two series. His fantasy value may be largely in garbage time production and Jameis Winston is the preferred choice of rookie quarterbacks between the two. By the way, there are plenty of teams in need of a quarterback (including my Bills), why not ask what the Titans want for Zach Mettenberger.

- Tyrod Taylor rushed for 47 yards and threw for 49 in relief duty of Matt Cassel. However, EJ Manuel looked fantastic in mop-up duty and has already been named the starter for the Bills next preseason game. Wait with baited breath but nothing to see here in most standard leagues, unless you want a lottery ticket with Taylor's name.

- Brock Osweiler, if you're looking for a DFS, preseason QB, he's your man.

- As always, there isn't much to see here sans the injuries. However, this is a solid tool day-to-day to keep up on fantasy implications.
