New Jersey: Parise knows the system and has learned to co-exist with Ilya Kovalchuk. A full season with Travis Zajac in the middle of those two should see Parise challenge 80 points. Some wisdom could suggest that Parise's deliberation is good news for the Devils as noted by ESPN's John Buccigross. Parise is a fan favorite and it would not be a surprise if he re-signs with the Devils, although it's not as sexy a selection.
Pittsbugh: The thought of Parise on Sidney Crosby's left wing is shuddering for the opposition, at least for the 20 games a season Crosby will play. A power play with Parise, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal and Crosby that is anchored by Kris Letang is appealing to owners. Signing with Pittsburgh gives Parise the best chance to put up monster numbers whether he plays between Malkin or Crosby. Parise landing in black and yellow will also force owners to pull the trigger on him earlier.
Philadelphia: The Flyers have made a massive contract offer to Parise, according to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos and the prospect of him playing alongside Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell could be another fantasy boon. Can't see Parise signing with the Flyers, but money does talk. Odds are the Flyers will explore a trade if they do not land Parise, presumably either for Bobby Ryan or Rick Nash.
Chicago: If Parise lands in Chicago, conventional wisdom suggests that the Hawks could move Patrick Kane, however, GM Stan Bowman denied the possibility of a trade according to The Chicago Tribune's Chris Kuc. Parise and Johnathan Toews would make one of the top forward duos in the NHL and Parise would have himself an excellent offensive season in The Windy City, giving Toews a harder-working winger than Patrick Kane. Parise would become a vital piece on a team with several leaders already in Toews and Patrick Sharp, however the Blackhawks' more pressing need seems to be in goal.
Detroit: Again, Parise could find himself next to one of the league's more talented pivots, this time in the silky smooth Pavel Datsyuk with Henrik Zetterberg as a consolation prize. Parise would thrive in this environment, especially if the Wings also land Ryan Suter, as they have made offers to both marquis free agents, as per ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. Parise would fill a vital two-way role on Detroit, helping to kill penalties (something Datsyuk, a Selke winner, rarely does). Parise's presence on a perennial Cup contender is bad news for the Western Conference and he should again challenge 35 goals and 80 points.
Minnesota: The Wild certainly are the furthest away from being a Stanley Cup contender compared to the other squads on Parise's list. However, this could be more of a sentimental choice, as Parise is from the Twin Cities area and purchased a house in Minnesota this past year according to numerous sources. As of Monday evening, the Wild are still very much alive in the Parise sweepstakes, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Michael Russo. Russo has also noted that Parise is closer to a decision. In Minnesota, Parise paired up with Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley will certainly raise the value of the latter two players while Parise should still be a 30-plus goal performer and give the Wild the elite offensive player they've been missing since Marian Gaborik left, only with more of a work ethic and a stronger two-way game. If Parise lands in Minnesota, his fantasy value could take a hit on draft day given how poolies ignore the Wild outside of goalie Niklas Backstrom, acutally making him a relative value.
Regardless of where Parise will end up, odds are he will be a 35-goal scorer at least with a shot at 80-plus points. He will be a safe pick once the elite scoring forwards have been drafted. Odds are a mid-third round projection for Parise considering the top forwards, goaltenders and defensemen that populate the early rounds, but don't count him sneaking up to the end of the second round if he signs with Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. After those two squads, Detroit, Chicago and New Jersey will give Parise about the same fantasy value he's had, with the Wild possibly making him a steal in the late-third or early-fourth rounds.
