Marlins Reel in Mark Buehrle

The Miami Marlins have now landed their 3rd major free agent this off-season with the signing of Mark Buehrle for $58MM for 4 years. That now means Heath Bell, Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle have landed in Florida. Can they pay for them all? Time will tell.
Perhaps the club is banking on a couple great years of ticket sales and then...Who knows.

Buehrle brings the club a reliable left-handed contact pitcher with the ability to stay healthy and eat innings. Healthy starting pitching has been a challenge for Florida with Josh Johnson being a poster boy for miseries the past couple of seasons. All the hitting in the world won't help if they don't have guys to pitch. Buehrle helps tremendously. The price? That's in the eye of the beholder. I don't be holden the bill or the check book.

The Buehrle signing probably means the end of the Marlins quest for Albert Pujols. Unless the club is printing money in the basement of the new stadium-and that's rather doubtful. So, does Pujols return to the Cardinals. Like most people, I've said all along that he would likely stay with the Cardinals. It would be great if he did. Frankly, they should have a press conference in St. Louis and celebrate Pujols' signing in his home city. Stay tuned.
