Magic Blockbuster Trade

I'm not as up on NBA as I used to be, but here are my quick first impressions of the trade:

A nice upgrade for Vince Carter who replaces Hedo Turkoglu (for the second time) and also Jason Richardson on one of the faster-paced offenses in the league and with arguably it's best passing point guard. Maybe Mickael Pietrus eventually fills in Turkoglu's role, but even if Carter merely swaps roles with Richardson, it's an upgade.

Marcin Gortat could be in for an upgrade, but it's unclear whether he fits into that rotation as well as the nimbler Channing Frye who can shoot the three. Gortat might just slot into Robin Lopez's 20 mpg role.

Jason Richardson I'd imagine will vie for minutes with Gilbert Arenas at the two - when Arenas is not running the point in which case he'll share time with Jameer Nelson, and Turkoglu will vie for minutes with Richardson as a one of the team's swingmen. Quentin Richardson and J.J. Redick lose minutes as well, as the team now has six players (Nelson, Arenas, Richardson, Turkoglu, Richardson and Redick) playing three spots (PG, SG, SF).

The departure of Gortat and Rashard Lewis has to be good news for Brandon Bass who could see more minutes at power forward now. In fact, he could be biggest upgrade on Orlando as a result of the trade - unless Stan Van Gundy uses Hedo at the four - which I suppose he could given how much rebounding and defense Dwight Howard provides.

For the Wizards, Kirk Hinrich should gain significant minutes at the two, and Al Thornton is the likely loser as Rashard Lewis replaces him at the three - though it's possible Lewis could play some power forward and cut into Andray Blatche's minutes.

Again, I'm not as up on hoops as I used to be, so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here in the comments.
