Training Camp Notes

-Michael Crabtree returned to practice yesterday after dealing with a stiff neck the last two games.  He should be fine for the start of the regular season and is one of the wide receivers with a lot of upside after the elite options are off the board.

-Plaxico Burress lost his second bid for an early work release, eliminating the possibility of him playing this season.  Who know what will happen in 2011 but keep in mind he'll be 34 before the season starts.

-Ryan Torain will start Thursday's preseason finale and is line to have the #3 RB spot locked up.  He's not a bad speculative pick late in drafts for deeper leagues.  Larry Johnson has 10,000 carries under his belt and hasn't looked anywhere near his former self during camp.  Clinton Portis is a tad bit injury-prone so Torain could be in line for some action this season.

-Derrick Ward was released and now Kareem Huggins is the clear-cut #2 back in TampaBay.  Cadillac Williams is the Clinton Portis of the Bucs so again, Huggins is a nice sleeper if you have a deep bench.

-Derek Anderson is the likely starter for Week 1 and Larry Fitzgerald is progressing nicely from his twisted knee.  I still think the injury has dropped Fitz too low during regular drafts and the change from Matt Leinart to Anderson only helps his fantasy value.  This isn't going to be the throwing team they were last year and Beanie Wells should run well enough to get Fitz open downfield.

-Knowshon Moreno is back and practicing at 20 percent.  In case you missed my blog a few weeks back, I'm not high on a 100 percent Moreno.  Hamstring injuries also tend to linger if you play a position where running is important.

-Fred Jackson may not be ready for Week 1 but Marshawn Lynch should be.  In case you haven't seen any of the Bills preseason games, C.J. Spiller looks better now than either of those two did last year.  Whether he can carry that into the regular season with the Bills makeshift offensive line is another story.

-Roy Williams missed practice on Tuesday with a lower back/hip flexor strain.  This may be the excuse needed to move Dez Bryant past him on the depth chart sooner rather than later.

-Michael Bush may or may not have had thumb surgery and there's a good possibility that Darren McFadden has a huge role come Week 1.  Start him and sell high before Bush returns if that ends up being the case.
