Bernie Carbo's the Man

It's so sad that the steroid era has ruined baseball. Back in the good old days, players didn't need to shoot themselves full of performance enhancing chemicals - they just flat out played wasted.

Said Carbo of his game-tying World Series home run against the Reds:


I probably smoked two joints, drank about three or four beers, got to the ballpark, took some [amphetamines], took a pain pill, drank a cup of coffee, chewed some tobacco, had a cigarette, and got up to the plate and hit.

Of course, I'm sure this is child's play compared to what some of the guys in the NBA were doing back then.
