1 North Carolina over 16 Radford: Good move by Roy Williams to rest Ty Lawson for this one.
9 Butler over 8 LSU: Sophomore forward Matt Howard will present matchups problems for LSU, which figures to struggles offensively against the 14th-best defense in the nation (per KenPom.com).
12 Western Kentucky over 5 Illinois: The Hilltoppers' guards win this one against the Illini's Chester Frazier-less D.
4 Gonzaga over 13 Akron: ...despite LeBron's passion for the Zips.
6 Arizona St. over 11 Temple: ASU looks like one of those teams that's either going to lose in a first-round upset or make a deep run. Herb Sendek's system slows down Dionte Christmas just enough to launch the Sun Devils on their way.
3 Syracuse over 14 Stephen F. Austin: I want to pick against Syracuse given what we know about teams that go on deep Big East tournament runs. But the lower end of the region sets up extraordinarily well for the Orange, thanks to the largesse of the selection committee.
10 Michigan over 7 Clemson: My best bet among the always-feisty #10 seeds, John Beilein's system has recharged the Wolverines and made them primed to make their first tourney appearance in 11 years count.
2 Oklahoma over 15 Morgan St.: Todd Bozeman returns for a shot at redemption with Morgan St. after falling off the mountain years ago at Cal. This is the game that CBS will cut into with three minutes left, breathlessly telling us it's Oklahoma 61, Morgan St. 60.
1 North Carolina over 9 Butler: Too may athletes for the Bulldogs to handle.
4 Gonzaga over 12 Western Kentucky: ...by a comfortable margin.
6 Arizona St. over 3 Syracuse: Led by All-America James Harden, the 5th-most efficient offense in the nation will deftly conquer the Syracuse zone.
10 Michigan over 2 Oklahoma: The Sooners were exposed as a thin team when Blake Griffin went down with a concussion, and there's no guarantee their star will be 100|PERCENT| this weekend. Throw in the worst defense of any elite seed and Oklahoma's ripe for an upset against a talented Michigan squad.
4 Gonzaga over 1 North Carolina: Jeremy Pargo will exploit Ty Lawson's injury, Matt Bouldin and company will strike from the wing and Josh Heytvelt will give Tyler Hansbrough a stiff battle. This is the year the Zags finally reach that next level.
6 Arizona St. over 10 Michigan: Few players in the country are more efficient than inside bruiser Jeff Pendergraph, Harden's underrated running mate.
4 Gonzaga over 6 Arizona St.: Gonzaga will speed up the tempo to its liking, Pargo will get the best of Derek Glasser, and the Zags will be the upstart darlings of the Final Four.
FINAL FOUR
1 Louisville over 2 Memphis: You won't find more talent in any game this whole tournament than this one. Memphis lost a little too much from last year's team to overcome the loaded Cards.
4 Gonzaga over 3 Villanova: The Zags are the only team in the nation to rank in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive Efficiency.
1 Louisville over 4 Gonzaga: Again, no answer for Terrence Williams, or Earl Clark for that matter. Shades of Kentucky over Utah, 1998, in this one.
