Barkley's Not Stupid - He's Right

Barkley called outLeBron James for talking about his potential 2010 destinations when he becomes a free agent.

Said Barkley:

If I was LeBron James, I would shut the hell up. I'm a big LeBron fan. He's a stud. You gotta give him his props. I'm getting so annoyed he's talking about what he's going to do in two years. I think it's disrespectful to the game. I think it's disrespectful to the Cavaliers.

James replied later by calling him "stupid," but Barkley's right. It's unseemly for James to be talking about potential suitors two seasons from now when the Cavs are in the hunt this season. That's like talking about possible future relationships in earshot of your current wife. While the business of basketball has certain realities of which the team and its fans are aware, James needs to keep his mouth shut until 2010 arrives. It's bad enough for the Cavs that he's likely to leave in the future, but why taint the present by talking about it?

James should apologize to the fans, reaffirm his mission to bring a championship to Cleveland and then keep quiet about it until he's actually en route to his new destination. It would show class and respect - and Barkley's dead on for calling him out.
