NHL Playoff Observations: Saturday Sizzlers

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Marc Andre Fleury who? Rookie Matt Murray is all of 21, but he seriously outplayed King Henrik Lundqvist over the last three games. #sizzle
  • Speaking of hot -- Frederick Anderson is so hot he's farting flames. POW.

  • Why do stars have to be children? Vladimir Tarasenko's feud with coach Ken Hitchcock has been brewing all season and it bubbled over at the end of the second period. Assistant coach Kirk Muller has some serious babysitting to do the next couple days.
  • Whoa, Sharks -- I KNEW I should've picked them in my playoff pool. Brett Burns is el fuego.
  • Richard Panik -- the one who got away ... from Toronto. He was everywhere and doing everything. Blocking shots. Backchecking. Forechecking. Picking up points. Good for Panik. Good for the Hawks. Bad for the Buds.
  • Andrew Shaw sure atoned for his sins -- that was a beauty PP snipe late in the third.
  • Corey Crawford was out of position when he took that rib shot from Colton Parayko late in the second period. The magic spray got him back on the ice, but he's probably not going to be able to sleep tonight. Or play next game without a straight jacket. Ouch.
  • Eric Staal -- has he always been overrated or is that a rhetorical question?
  • In two games, Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary have scored more goals (four) than Eric Staal delivered in 25 while on Broadway.
  • Will Phil Kessel end up in the top-five scorers this postseason if the Pens get to the Cup? #shudder
  • Back to the Sharks. They came into the postseason with some wicked facial hair. I fear the Viking braided beards and reverse mullets to come if they go far.
