Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We should have another busy night in the NBA on Wednesday with nine games on the schedule. Let's get right down to business and highlight some players to consider for your Yahoo entries, as well as a few that it might be best to stay away from.

GUARDS

Dejounte Murray, SA at OKC ($31): An outbreak of COVID-19 recently sidelined the Spurs, but they are set to return Wednesday and play their first game in 10 days. The problem is, they will be without several key players, including DeMar DeRozan (personal), Keldon Johnson (COVID-19) and Derrick White (COVID-19). That means Murray, who has already been a valuable all-around contributor this season, should take on an even more sizeable role.

Saben Lee, DET at NO ($12): The Pistons have to be thrilled with Lee's production since Delon Wright (groin) went down. He's logged 33 and 29 minutes, respectively, in two games since Wright's injury, which helped him score at least 32.3 Yahoo points both times. At near the minimum salary, expect him to be included in a lot of entries, and rightfully so.

Guard to Avoid

Hamidou Diallo, OKC vs. SA ($19): Now that the Thunder's health situation has improved, Diallo has seen his role decline. He's played 26 minutes or fewer in each of the last four games, which prevented him from scoring more than 24.4 Yahoo points in any of those contests. His salary is starting to come down, but it's still too high considering his current role.

FORWARDS

Zion Williamson, NO vs. DET ($37): Williamson will be flying high heading into this contest after being selected as an All-Star. He earned the honor thanks to his averages of 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He's been even better offensively of late, averaging 28.7 points across his last nine games. The last time he faced the Pistons, he thrived with 45.1 Yahoo points.

Danuel House Jr., HOU at CLE ($12): Playing time shouldn't be an issue for House moving forward. The Rockets are focused on playing small after releasing DeMarcus Cousins. They are really small right now with Christian Wood (ankle) still out. Although House does come with some risk based on his inconsistent production, he has scored at least 28.2 Yahoo points in two of the last three games. Also, this is a favorable matchup considering the Cavaliers have the seventh-worst defensive rating in the league.

Forward to Avoid

OG Anunoby, TOR at MIA ($22): Anunoby hasn't been the same since returning from injury. He's only averaged 10.8 points across four games, which is a significant step down from his season average of 13.9 points. Part of the problem is that he's only averaged 28 minutes over those four games, compared to 34 minutes per contest for the season. Playing the second game of a back-to-back set isn't exactly an ideal situation for him to see a jump in playing time.

CENTERS

Clint Capela, ATL vs. BOS ($33): Capela presents a significant mismatch for the Celtics. He faced them two times last week, scoring 41.6 and 59.5 Yahoo points, respectively. He enters this game with seven straight double-doubles and should be one of the safer center options for the slate, while also not destroying your budget.

Tristan Thompson, BOS at ATL ($13): To battle with Capela, the Celtics will likely turn to Thompson for significant playing time. He's only averaging 23 minutes per game for the season, but he played at least 27 minutes in both of the last two games against the Hawks. That helped propel him to score 30.4 and 28.5 Yahoo points, respectively.

Center to Avoid

Chris Boucher, TOR at MIA ($20): Boucher's inconsistent playing time makes him an extremely risky option. He's shown his upside by scoring at least 32.5 Yahoo points in two of his last five games. However, he scored 22.9 Yahoo points or fewer in each of the other three contests. This is a tough matchup against Bam Adebayo, so it shouldn't be a surprise that Boucher didn't score more than 14.2 Yahoo points in either of his first two meetings with the Heat this season.
