Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Wednesday brings a fairly light slate in the NBA with only four games on the schedule. Teams have been resting players with the playoffs on the horizon, so it will be important to monitor for news throughout the day. As things currently stand, here are some players to target for your Yahoo entry, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

James Harden, HOU vs. IND ($55): Harden sat out Tuesday's contest against the Spurs, so expect him to return for the second leg of the Rockets' back-to-back set. Russell Westbrook did play Tuesday, so he will take this game off for rest. That could lead to another juicy stat line from Harden, who has averaged 33.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 8.6 assists and three steals across five games in Orlando.

Aaron Holiday, IND at HOU ($14): The Pacers will require some monitoring leading up to tip-off. They have already ruled out T.J. Warren (foot), who has been on fire in the bubble. However, they could also be without two other key players considering Malcolm Brogdon (neck) and Victor Oladipo (ankle) are both listed as questionable. If either or both of them are also ruled out, Holiday could be in line to see a ton of playing time. Even if they do take the floor, Holiday could gain added minutes against a Rockets team that deploys a lot of small lineups.

Guard to Avoid

Kyle Lowry, TOR at PHI ($36): The Raptors are locked into the second seed in the East, so there is no need for them to push their starters over their last two games. Lowry has been productive since the season resumed, but he hasn't exactly exploded with 38.4 Yahoo points or fewer in each of his last four games. If the Raptors race out to a big lead against the depleted Sixers, then Lowry could see added time on the bench in the second half. Considering his expensive salary, it might be better to allocate your funds elsewhere.

FORWARDS

Robert Covington, HOU vs. IND ($29): There have been no indications that Covington will sit this game out after playing Tuesday against the Spurs. The good news is that he only logged 29 minutes in what was a blowout loss. That didn't stop him from scoring 36.3 Yahoo points, though. He's scored at least 34.2 Yahoo points in five of his last six games, leaving him with a high floor given his salary.

Justin Holiday, IND at HOU ($10): Holiday is already in line for added minutes in this game with Warren out, and he could be really busy if Brogdon and/or Oladipo are sidelined as well. Extended playing time hasn't been easy for Holiday to come by this season, but he has averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 11 games in which he has logged at least 30 minutes.

Forward to Avoid

OG Anunoby, TOR at PHI ($19): Anunoby is not on the Raptors to score, which has left him with a 14.3 percent usage rate. He hasn't posted more than 23 Yahoo points in any of the last five games and has logged 28 minutes or fewer in each of the last three contests. Considering his salary isn't much of a discount, it's difficult to make an argument to add him to your lineup.

CENTERS

Bam Adebayo, MIA at OKC ($33): In terms of centers with a high floor, Adebayo is right up there with the best of them. His ability to contribute is so many areas has enabled him to score at least 33.8 Yahoo points in four of his last six games. He even scored 33.8 Yahoo points against the Pacers on Monday despite only playing 22 minutes. If Steven Adams (lower leg) and Nerlens Noel (ankle) are both ruled out again, Adebayo could feast against Mike Muscala.

Chris Boucher, TOR at PHI ($13): Boucher's viability in DFS hinges on the status of Serge Ibaka (knee), who is listed as questionable. With Ibaka out Monday against the Bucks, Boucher recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks across 29 minutes off the bench. Marc Gasol ($14) is still logging limited minutes, so if Ibaka is out again, Boucher could be an excellent target in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Myles Turner, IND at HOU ($20): Turner (neck) is another member of the Pacers who enters this contest with a questionable designation. With that being said, he's a very risky option even if he does take the floor. The Rockets use so many small lineups that Turner could find himself anchored to the bench more than usual.
