Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There's no shortage of action in the NBA on Wednesday with nine games on the schedule. With so many options to sift through, let's get right to it and discuss some of the better players to target, as well as a few to avoid, on Yahoo.

GUARDS

Kyle Lowry, TOR vs. SAC ($31): Lowry has certainly established a nice floor for himself in the early going, scoring at least 35.4 Yahoo points in all six of his games. His fantasy value has received a significant boost in the scoring department with him averaging 24 points per game and posting a 23.7 percent usage rate. With Kawhi Leonard no longer in the picture, he's likely going to receive all of the scoring opportunities that he can handle moving forward.

Bruce Brown Jr., DET vs. NY ($15): With Reggie Jackson (back), Derrick Rose (hamstring) and Tim Frazier (shoulder) out the last two games, Brown has scored 40.9 and 43.9 Yahoo points, respectively. He logged at least 37 minutes in both contests and should once again be on the court a ton with all three ruled out for this game, as well. He's going to be very popular at this price, and rightfully so.

Guard to Avoid

Trae Young, ATL vs. CHI ($44): It might seem crazy to have Young in this section after he scored 53.9 Yahoo points against the Spurs on Tuesday. However, that was his first game coming back from an ankle injury, so it would seem ill-advised for the Hawks to push him to play heavy minutes in the second night of their back-to-back set. With so many other great options at guard, paying this much for Young might not be a risk worth taking.

FORWARDS

Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL at LAC ($54): It's not that difficult to make a case for deploying Giannis in DFS whenever the Bucks are on the slate. His floor is as high as anyone in the league, scoring at least 52.3 Yahoo points in six of his seven games. He'll avoid the defensive-wizard that is Leonard, who will sit out the first game of the Clippers' back-to-back set for rest. While pricey, Giannis could still be well worth it.

JaMychal Green, LAC vs. MIL ($11): With Leonard out, the Clippers will ask for more from the likes of Green, Patrick Patterson and Maurice Harkless. The last time we saw Leonard sit, Green logged a season-high 27 minutes and scored 23 points on his way to 34.6 Yahoo points. He's never been one to shy away from shot attempts, leaving him as an intriguing tournament option at near the minimum price.

Forward to Avoid

Joe Ingles, UTA vs. PHI ($17): Ingles has come off of the bench in all but one game this season, leaving him to average 29 minutes a game after he averaged 31 minutes per contest last season. While that's not a huge reduction in playing time, the biggest takeaway is that his usage rate has dropped from 17.5 percent last season to 12.4 percent. Facing a Sixers team that has allowed only 107.3 points per game isn't likely going to lead to his breakout offensive performance.

CENTERS

Andre Drummond, DET vs. NY ($50): Blake Griffin (hamstring) is slowly making progress, but he'll once again be out for this matchup. Drummond has been nothing short of dominant in his absence, averaging 21.3 points, 19.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. Despite his climbing price tag, he's one of the best options at any position for the evening.

Wendell Carter Jr., CHI at ATL ($18): The Bulls suffered yet another disappointing loss Tuesday, but at least Carter was productive. He finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and one block, marking his fifth double-double across his last six games. The Hawks are thin up front with John Collins suspended, leaving Carter with the potential to shine against the likes of Alex Len and Bruno Fernando.

Center to Avoid

Mitchell Robinson, NY at DET ($21): Knicks' coach David Fizdale is about as unpredictable as it gets since he's constantly changing up his rotations. He brought Robinson off the bench for the first time this season in their last game versus the Kings, but he's expected to return to the starting five Wednesday. While that's all well and good, Robinson has been plagued by foul trouble this season, which has resulted in him averaging just 19 minutes a night. Facing Drummond likely isn't going to help him in that department.
