Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After a wild Monday that saw the Clippers make an amazing comeback against the Warriors, we have three more playoff games in the NBA on Tuesday. The Magic and Spurs will be trying to steal another win on the road while the Blazers look to hold home court and take a 2-0 series lead against the Thunder. We also have another opportunity to play DFS on Yahoo, so let's examine some players to target and avoid while crafting your entry.

GUARDS

Russell Westbrook, OKC at POR ($53): Even though the Thunder lost Game 1, Westbrook was productive with yet another triple-double. He has now recorded a triple-double in six of his last seven games. He also scored 24 points and will continue to be one of the focal points of the Thunder's offense after finishing the regular season with the 10th-highest usage rate (30.9 percent) in the league. Don't hesitate to add him to your entry despite his lofty price tag.

D.J. Augustin, ORL at TOR ($18): Augustin was the hero of a surprising Game 1 win for the Magic. He finished with 25 points and was extremely efficient by shooting 4-for-5 from behind the arc and 9-for-13 from the field, overall. While he obviously can't keep that up, he did shoot 47 percent from the field during the regular season. With little talent behind him at point guard, he has a relatively high floor at this price.

Guard to Avoid

Evan Fournier, ORL at TOR ($21): Fournier came away with 16 points in Game 1, but he was just 7-for-18 from the field and only provided two rebounds and two assists. His limited contributions outside of the scoring column should not be a surprise considering he averaged 3.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists during the regular season. With his limited upside, it might be best to spend elsewhere.

FORWARDS

DeMar DeRozan, SA at DEN ($35): Speaking of inefficient performances, DeRozan was only 6-for-17 from the field in the first game of his series against the Nuggets. However, unlike Fournier, DeRozan was a significant contributor in other areas with 12 rebounds and six assists. He averaged career-highs in both rebounds (six) and assists (6.2) per game during the regular season, which certainly helps with his floor in this battle between two good defensive squads.

Al-Farouq Aminu, POR vs. OKC ($13): Aminu had plenty of success against the Thunder during the regular season, averaging 10.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and two assists across four contests. It likely helped that the Thunder played at the sixth-fastest pace (103.4 possessions per game) in the league. He carried over that success with 25.4 Yahoo points in Game 1 and is cost-effective option to once again consider Tuesday.

Forward to Avoid

Rudy Gay, SA at DEN ($19): Gay has bounced between the starting five and coming off the bench this season and was a member of the second unit for Game 1. He still played 27 minutes, but finished with only 22.7 Yahoo points. His usage rate dropped to 22.1 percent this season and he provides very little in the way of assists or defensive stats, so he's really not that appealing at this price.

CENTERS

Steven Adams, OKC at POR ($26): Jusuf Nurkic (lower leg) was a valuable defensive presence for the Blazers this year, averaging one steal and 1.4 blocks. His replacement Enes Kanter has never been known for his shot-blocking prowess, so this should be an easier series for Adams than it could have been. He cashed in with 35.3 Yahoo points in Game 1 and should continue to at least approach a double-double on a nightly basis.

Enes Kanter, POR vs. OKC ($25): While Kanter is lacking on the defensive end, he showed his offensive chops with 20 points in Game 1. He also dominated the glass with 18 rebounds. Despite averaging just 22.3 minutes per game after being traded to the Blazers, he still averaged 8.6 rebounds a night. He's going to get the lion's share of the minutes at center, making him an excellent option to consider who actually has a higher upside than Adams.

Center to Avoid

Marc Gasol, TOR vs. ORL ($20): The good news for Gasol is that he logged 32 minutes in Game 1 after averaging just 25 minutes a game since being traded to the Raptors. The bad news was that he only scored 13 points on nine shot attempts. He had a 16.3 percent usage rate after joining the Raptors, so expect him to continue to be limited offensively.
