2023 Fantasy Outlook
Gonzalez jostled between Triple-A Sacramento and San Francisco most of the season, also missing time due to back issues, the last of which costed him the last two weeks of the season. At times, the lefty swinger was an everyday player, but there were other instances Gonzalez sat versus lefthanded pitching, as his OPS was over 200 points higher with the platoon edge. Gonzalez's 12th percentile average exit velocity and 11th percentile Hard Hit rate temper power and batting average output, but he has double-digit stolen base potential. If he were a righthanded batter with the same splits, he'd be a viable short-side platoon bat, but those numbers don't play for a lefthanded hitting corner outfielder. With the Giants fortifying their lineup, Gonzales is earmarked for a reserve outfielder role, best suited for his talent, but not fantasy friendly for mixed leagues.
