Chicago White Sox
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Lee was traded from the Astros to the White Sox at the 2023 trade deadline and played in 24 games down the stretch for Chicago. The 25-year-old struggled to get anything going offensively with a .077/.143/.138 slash line and 28.6 percent strikeout rate in 70 plate appearances, though he looked solid behind the plate. He had a .711 OPS in 82 games at Triple-A last season, and he hit just five homers compared to the 25 he slugged in 2022. Depending on the White Sox's offseason additions, Lee should have a chance to earn the start Opening Day in 2024, though he'd be a risky play for fantasy managers. As it stands, Carlos Perez and Max Stassi are his main competition. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
The stat line wasn't notable for Lee, but he has now started three straight games for the White Sox after being in the lineup just twice in the team's first nine contests. One of those starts came at designated hitter, with two behind the plate. Mounting injuries to the White Sox's lineup could mean that Lee continues to get playing time, though both Eloy Jimenez (thigh) and Max Stassi (hip) are nearing potential returns.

Needs regular playing time
CHouston Astros
March 28, 2023
Astros GM Dana Brown said Tuesday that Lee was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land in order to receive regular playing time, reports Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last season and went 4-for-25 in 12 games, and but he won't open 2023 in the majors with Yainer Diaz and Cesar Salazar serving as backup catchers. Lee will instead see regular action for Sugar Land, with Brown saying, "you can't have guys like that sitting on the bench at the major-league-level." Lee is a likely bet to be called up at some point this season, though his opportunities with the big club should remain limited if starter Martin Maldonado stays mostly healthy.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Lee debuted for the Astros in 2022 and went 4-for-25 in 12 games. The acquisition of Christian Vazquez at the trade deadline ended any chances of the 24-year-old seeing significant action down the stretch for Houston. Vazquez has joined the Twins in free agency, but Martin Maldonado will be back for 2023, though it's his final year under contract. Maldonado continues to struggle at the play but remains strong as ever defensively, and he should operate as the Astros' primary backstop once again. Lee hit .238 with 25 home runs and 12 stolen bases at Triple-A last season, and he could open 2023 as Houston's backup catcher. However, fellow top prospect Yainer Diaz will be vying for the same opportunity.
